Gymnastics: McKeon stands out as Lake Forest wins regional

Led by all-around champion Kat McKeon, the Lake Forest gymnastics team scored a 144.425 to comfortably win an IHSA regional crown on Tuesday night.
Mundelein took runner-up honors with a 141.5. Glenbrook South (133.2) and Glenbrook North (129.675) also competed.
The host Scouts, who will advanced to the Niles North Sectional on Feb. 9, also had the top performances on vault, uneven bars and floor exercise.
McKeon recorded a 37.325 all-around score. She also won on the bars (9.475).
Brittany Moccia claimed top honors on vault (9.575), while Kylie Carlson finished first on floor exercise (9.6).
The balance beam winner was Mundelein freshman Mackenzie Kehr (9.4), who edged McKeon (9.325).
Carlson, who placed fifth in the all-around (36.175), was the runner-up on vault (9.475) while she took third on bars (9.250).
