Men’s Hockey: Lake Forest College posts back-to-back wins

The Lake Forest College men’s hockey team produced a pair of crucial victories in a sweep of Concordia University-Wisconsin.
Six different Foresters scored goals, and a dozen recorded at least one point during a 6-2 triumph in Mequon, Wis., on Friday.
Luke Swardenksi and Rafael Turcotte each had three points in a 5-1 victory on Saturday. Goaltender Brendan Cullivan stopped 45 of 48 shots in the two games combined.
Lake Forest (3-16-0, 3-11-0 MCHA) is now tied with Concordia-Wisconsin, and holds the tiebreaker for third place in the MCHA South Division, with only the top three teams in the division qualifying for the postseason tournament.
The Foresters will host first-place Adrian College at 7 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Men’s basketball
Lake Forest College’s winning streak ended last week, but not before reaching a program-record 15 games.
The Foresters defeated Illinois College 71-47 on the road Jan. 25, but were beaten by visiting Grinnell College 98-92 on Saturday.
James Stack led LFC with 14 points against IC, and added 13 on Saturday. He shot 7-for-8 from three-point range in the two games combined.
Travis Clark scored 13 points in just 17 minutes at Illinois College, before finishing Saturday’s contest with 19 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, three steals and two blocked shots.
Lake Forest College (15-2, 11-1 MWC) will visit Lawrence University at 7 p.m. Friday, and Carroll University at 4 p.m. the following day.
Women’s basketball
Lake Forest College split a pair of conference games last week, falling to Illinois College 68-65 on the road Jan. 25, before posting a 62-58 triumph over Grinnell College at home on Saturday.
Sam Schuring led the Foresters with 14 points on Jan. 25, and Danielle Canulli scored a team-high 15 points on Saturday. Liz Radtke was next with a dozen points in each contest; she added five rebounds and four assists against Grinnell.
The Foresters (8-8, 7-5 MWC) will visit Lawrence University at 5 p.m. Friday and Carroll University at 2 p.m. Saturday.
