Babineaux, Ekakitie pace Caxys in win over Culver

Led by Kori Babineaux and Faith Ekakitie, the Lake Forest Academy boys basketball team improved its record to 6-7 on Saturday.
Babineaux tallied 20 and Ekakitie added 12 as the Caxys took care of host Culver Academy 49-25.
In other recent action, Babineaux needed only a little over three quarters to score 42 points in LFA’s 74-57 victory over visiting Holy Trinity last week.
Ekakitie also helped out, scoring 12 points.
The Caxys, meanwhile, went 1-2 in the recent Midwest Prep Tournament at Kiski School, which is just outside Pittsburgh.
Babineaux, who is averaging 29.8 points per game, scored 20 or more in each contest.
The lone win came over Western Reserve Academy 58-47. Babineaux tallied 29 while Ekakitie added 12. Tommy Merritt finished with eight points.
LFA fell to host Kiski 70-49 despite Babineaux’s 30.
And, the Caxys dropped a 62-29 decision to powerhouse Lalumiere Academy of Indiana. Babineaux had 20.
LFA coach Matt Vaughn called Lalumiere “ridiculously talented.”
Five of its players will play in the Big Ten next year.
LFA will travel to Culver Military on Saturday afternoon (4:30 p.m.).
Recap: On Tuesday night, LFA faced a tough foe in Chicago Hope (17-2). The Caxys wound up losing in double overtime 76-71.
Babineaux scored 26 points, while Ekakitie added 13. Merritt and Porter Veach had 12 points apiece.
