LAKE BLUFF — It was a cakewalk for Lake Bluff Caucus-endorsed candidates in the Village Trustee race with incumbent John Josephitis, Bill Meyer and Eric Grenier seizing an easy victory. Josephitis, elected to his second four-year term as trustee, was the top vote getter with 910 — just more than 30 percent — of the total votes cast. Grenier came in second with 821 votes, or just above 27 percent, while Meyer, the current Village Clerk, got 786 votes, or roughly 26 percent. SHIELDS TOWNSHIP — Newcomer Cynthia Maloney squeaked out a victory against incumbent Shields Township with Supervisor Gale Strenger Wayne Tuesday. Maloney of Lake Forest unseated Strenger Wayne of Knollwood, who sought her second term as supervisor, by a slim margin. In the end, Maloney had 1,884 votes to Strenger Wayne’s 1,849 with official results tabulated Tuesday night. “We’re thrilled to death. I think it’s a wonderful thing. I’m really honored,” Maloney said. Major leadership changes are ahead on three school boards in Lake Forest and Lake Bluff, as only one incumbent remains after voters chose Tuesday from 17 candidates seeking 12 positions. Lake Bluff Elementary School District 65, Lake Forest School District 67 and Lake Forest High School Board of Trustees each had four positions up for grabs, including the president of each. In an upset, Democrat Brad Schneider narrowly slipped past U.S. Rep Bob Dold Tuesday, ousting the freshman congressman and giving the 10th District its first Democrat in decades. Dold conceded just before 11 p.m. He lost by barely 2,400 votes out of more than 200,000 cast. Dold, a moderate, was remapped into a Democratic-leaning, north suburban district.
