Take Illinois Back!
“The dire financial situation in Illinois demands change in state leadership. We are in deep debt — $84 billion — causing our bond rating to be downgraded and our borrowing rate increased. Only California is cited a riskier investment. Even investment firms are recommending clients cash Illinois debt early and repurchase later for higher rates. The “cushion” we got from the huge Illinois income tax increase is gone and businesses continue to flee this mess. Madigan has been in charge for 30 years, so no finger-pointing needed. Public employees pension liabilities remain the biggest black hole and Madigan’s solution is to return those to the local municipalities. Regardless of what the candidates say, this will increase property taxes and not make selling a home easier. Do we really want this?
Mark Shaw and Scott Drury differ philisophically on fiscal responsibility and are running for 58th District State Representative. Drury was hand-picked and is financed by the Madigan machine. It is this relationship that I suspect is the reason he distracts us from the financial disaster and “markets” his opinions on social issues. While social issues are important to many voters, most are voted on by national leaders and not by State legislators. Drury has endorsed Madigan’s solution of moving pension liabilities back locally (Daily Herald, Sept. 21). Shaw opposes this and other tax increases. Regardless of your party affiliation, please consider Mark Shaw when voting for State Representative for 58th District.”
