Lake Bluff fifth-graders make lasting mark with art

Lake Bluff Elementary School fifth-graders are saying goodbye before middle school by creating a mural under the direction of art teacher Tom Beck. He has overseen the mural project in District 65 since 1997. “It will become a memory in our future,” said Chase Rupprecht, 11. And maybe, someday, we’ll come back and visit.”

The area’s first high school for teens recovering from alcohol and drug addiction, eating disorders or other mental health issues will open in Lake Bluff June 3. Newport Academy Day School will be the first recovery high school serving Chicago’s North Shore teens, age 15 to 19.
