Visiting author is Aaron Reynolds
Author extraordinaire Aaron Reynolds will be bringing his talents to Cherokee, Everett and Sheridan schools, Jan. 29 - 31 as part of the APT Visiting Author Program, which is sponsored by a grant from the Spirit of 67 Foundation.
Reynolds isn’t scared of carrots, but he’s terrified of black olives. He’s the author of many books for kids, including Superhero School, Chicks and Salsa, and the Joey Fly Private Eye graphic novel series. His books have been featured on the Henson Productions national television show, “Between the Lions,” and nominated for many awards including the 2010 Edgar Allen Poe Mystery Award and the Monarch Kid’s Choice Award. He lives in Chicago with his wife, two kids, and four neurotic cats. You can visit Aaron at www.Aaron-Reynolds.com.
Students and staff have the chance to purchase Aaron Reynolds’ books and have him autograph them. Book orders are due on Jan. 19.
APT Book Drive starts Feb. 1
The District 67 APT Book Drive takes place Feb. 1-15. Last year, District 67 APT, in association with Bernie’s Book Bank, collected more than 20,000 books from District 67 families. Those books were given to Bernie’s Book Bank, where they were distributed to at-risk children in the Chicagoland area. Encourage your children to bring their gently used children’s books to school and place them in the collection boxes in their classrooms. For information, visit the district website: www.lf67.org.
