Empty bowls service learning project

Third graders at Cherokee will be participating in an authentic service-learning project. They will be learning about issues associated with hunger and how it affects families in our community and around the world. To recognize all of the empty bowls around the world, students will be hosting an Empty Bowls luncheon on Dec. 15. Students will be making bowls in art class that will be sold at the event ($10 cash). All donations will be given to a hunger-fighting organization. For each donation, attendees will receive a handmade bowl created by a Cherokee student or staff member. Soup and bread will also be served. This event is open to all third grade families at Cherokee. Any leftover bowls will be available for sale after the event.
