Football champions
The Lake Forest Country Day School varsity football team won the Lake County Catholic Conference Football Championship, which took place on Oct. 27. The Panthers beat St. Mary’s of Buffalo Grove 14-12 to clinch the trophy. Eighth-grade student Hampden Keil scored two touchdowns for the Panthers, with eighth-grade student Duncan Trerotola making a two-point conversion kick to seal the win. The Panthers were led by head coach Bill Scroggins, who turned last year’s 1-7 team into an 8-1 championship this season.
Journey north
The senior kindergarten students recently planted tulip bulbs as part of a global study of seasonal change called Journey North. The goal of the project is to discover when spring will arrive in Lake Forest and also to observe spring’s arrival in other places throughout the United States. Once a tulip emerges from the ground this spring, the students will report the information on Journey North’s website. Sixth-grade students from Mr. Arthur’s science classes assisted the senior kindergarten students with the planting.~.
