Reading Buddies

The Lake Forest Country Day School fourth-grade class welcomed the third-grade class from Forrestal Elementary in Great Lakes as part of a reading and service-learning program called Sarah’s Dream: Read with Me on Oct. 11.

The program, hosted by Lake County Cares, brings third-graders from Forrestal and Oak Terrace Elementary School in Highwood together with fourth-grade students from Country Day School and Lake Bluff Elementary School, with the older students mentoring the younger students. The program began with an “All About Me” exercise to allow the buddies to get to know one another better, followed by a morning of reading and learning, LFCDS officials said in a press release. The buddies will meet again during winter, with another meeting set for spring.
