Lake Forest High School school notes

First-quarter grades
The first quarter at Lake Forest High School ends Oct. 26. Faculty will file grades in PowerSchool by Oct. 30. First-quarter report cards will not be mailed home, school officials said in a press release. First-semester grades will be mailed home in January. Students may drop a semester course or request a level change without penalty by Oct. 26.
If a student drops a fifth course, the student, including seniors, will be assigned to a study hall. For additional information, students should see their counselor.
LEAD meeting
There will be a joint freshman and sophomore parent meeting “LEAD/LFHS APT sponsored panel discussion” from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 7. It will take place in the Raymond Moore Auditorium at LFHS East Campus, 1285 N. McKinley Road, Lake Forest. This annual joint meeting includes information on alcohol and substance abuse, new driving laws, curfew laws, and issues concerning security in cyberspace. Parents and students are encouraged to attend.
Conferences canceled
Nov. 8 and 9 will be regular school days. Parent-teacher conferences have been canceled on those days and parents are encouraged to contact each of their student’s teachers to schedule individual meetings. These calendar changes and others can be found at http://www.lfhs.org/news/index.html.
Prudential award
The Prudential Spirit of Community Award application deadline is Nov. 6. The Prudential Spirit of Community Award program recognizes high school youth on the basis of volunteer work in their communities. LFHS may select one candidate to represent the high school and that person would be eligible to receive $1,000, a silver medallion, and a trip to Washington, D.C.
