Lake Forest College this month elected three new members to its Board of Trustees: William Connell, Susan Garrett and Alexander Stuart, all of Lake Forest. They will serve four-year terms.

William (Liam) Connell is the recently-retired CEO of Allston Trading, LLC. Previously, Connell served as a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs, Chief Information Officer and managing partner at Hull Trading Company LLC in Chicago, and vice president of operations for Salomon Brothers in New York.

Susan Garrett retired at the close of 2012 after completing her third term as Illinois State Senator representing the 29th District. At the time of her retirement she was the Majority Caucus Whip and Chair of the Senate Environment Committee while also serving on the Commerce, Revenue, Education, Public Health and State Government & Veterans Affairs Committees. Before being elected to the Senate in 2002, Garrett served two terms in the Illinois House of Representatives.

Alexander (Sandy) Stuart is president of North Star Investments. He was previously the president and CEO of Conway Farms, and co-founded a predecessor entity of Black Stone Minerals Company, where he continues to serve as a director. Before entering the oil and gas business, he was an associate editor and bureau chief for Fortune magazine. Active in civic matters, Stuart is the immediate past chair of Chicago Public Media, a trustee of the St. Andrew’s School, a director of Northwestern Memorial Lake Forest Hospital, and the Finance Chair for the Illinois Republican Party.
