LAKE BLUFF — The $1.3 million Waukegan Road/North Shore Drive Signalized Intersection Improvement Project in Lake Bluff will be completed on Wednesday, Dec. 19.

The new signal will make traffic flow safer and access along the Waukegan Road Corridor at North Shore Drive easier with the following features:

• 4-way traffic light at the intersection of North Shore Drive and Waukegan Road;

• Realigned North Shore Drive with the entrance to the Knollwood Country Club; and

• Improved roadway features, including the widening of all four legs of the intersection to accommodate left-hand turn lanes, improved roadway signage, a pedestrian crosswalk signal, and interconnection of the new traffic signal with the existing signal to the north to facilitate traffic flow.

The project was largely funded by a $1 million Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity grant secured by State Sen. Susan Garrett (D-Lake Forest) for the village of Lake Bluff.

Work took five months to complete by Peter Baker & Sons Construction Company and came in approximately 15 percent under the budgeted amount for a total construction cost of approximately $1.3 million. Pasquesi Home & Gardens provided $100,000 toward project costs.
