Four finalists for two judicial openings
Four finalists were named Dec. 12 for two Lake County associate judgeships.
Elizabeth Rochford of Lake Forest and D. Christopher Lombardo of Vernon Hills are finalists for the opening created by the retirement of Associate Judge Wallace Dunn.
Rochford is a sole practitioner, while Lombardo is a partner in the law office of D. Christopher Lombardo.
For the vacancy created by the election of Associate Judge Thomas Schippers to a full circuit judge, Joseph Salvi of Hawthorne Woods and Janelle Christensen of Lindenhurst, are the finalists. Salvi is a partner in the law firm of Salvi, Salvi & Wifler, while Christensen is a Lake County assistant state’s attorney,
The Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts will prepare the ballots for the county’s full-circuit judges and tabulate the votes in Springfield.
LF Legion elects new officers for 2013
The Lake Forest American Legion members met Dec. 12 and elected new officers for 2013.
The new officers are: Tom Glover, Commander; Bill Gretz, Senior Vice Commander; Patricia Simmons, Junior Vice Commander; Rich Tucker, Sergeant-at-Arms; Larry Crone, Chaplain; Bob McPhlimy, Finance; and Gary Simmons, Adjutant.
The Lake Forest American Legion is named for Army Lt. George Alexander McKinlock, Jr., who was killed in World War I. The post was instituted in 1919. McKinlock is memorialized in a stained-glass window at The Church of the Holy Spirit in Lake Forest and his family name is carved into the fireplace at The Onwentsia Club and in several other buildings.
All veterans are welcome for membership. The Legion needs help with an ice carnival on Feb. 17; Memorial Day; Lake Forest Day; and Veterans Day.
