Twinkie calls ‘non-stop’ at Lake Forest Jewel

LAKE FOREST — The phone has been ringing continuously since 6:45 a.m. at Jewel-Osco in Lake Forest, with customers looking for the last shipment of Twinkies and other Hostess products scheduled Tuesday.
“We had people waiting in line when the store opened at 7 a.m.,” said Josephine Mazza, who works at the service desk. “People are calling non-stop.”
The store expects a shipment — the final — of Hostess products between 1 and 7 p.m. Tuesday.
“We’re only getting 36 cases,” Mazza said. The shipment will include an assortment of Twinkies, CupCakes and Sno Balls, she said..
“People were at the (customer service) desk asking me about the shipment right when the store opened,” Mazza said.
The Lake Forest store is located at 890 N. Western Ave.
A Jewel spokesperson said Monday there will be no purchase restrictions and the Hostess treats will be sold at the regular price.
Estimated times of delivery of about 20,000 boxes of Hostess products is listed on Facebook, facebook.com/JewelOsco.
Hostess Brands shut down operations Nov. 16. The company was reorganizing in bankruptcy.
