Railroad crossing replacement may affect Lake Forest voters

LAKE FOREST — Lake Forest residents who use the Lake Forest West train station on Telegraph Road as a polling place may have some difficulty going to vote on Tuesday.

Everett Road over the Milwaukee North tracks is closed for installation of a new crossing. Work began Oct. 31 and is expected to be completed Wednesday, Nov. 7, according to Metra.

The Lake Forest West Side train station is located on Telegraph Road, midway between Conway Road and Everett Road. Voters who live east of the tracks should go north on Waukegan Road from Everett, west on Conway across the tracks and south on Telegraph to the station.

The construction project involves replacement of the existing asphalt, rubber, track, ties and ballast for a smoother crossing, Metra said.
