Candidates to debate at senior center

LAKE FOREST — Local League of Women Voters chapters are hosting a debate Sunday, Oct. 21, for candidates in the Lake County circuit clerk court, coroner, recorder of deeds and state’s attorney races.
The debate is scheduled from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Senior Center, 100 E. Old Mill Road, Lake Forest. Doors will open at 1 p.m.
Candidates for circuit court clerk are Keith Brin, a Republican from Highland Park, and Rupam Dave, the Democratic challenger, from Grayslake.
In the coroner’s race, Democratic candidate Thomas Rudd of Lake Forest will face off against Steve Newton, the Republican candidate, from Antioch Township.
Recorder of Deeds Mary Ellen Vanderventer of Waukegan, the Republican candidate and only incumbent up for reelection, will debate her Democratic challenger Bob Bednar of Mundelein.
Candidates for state’s attorney are Chris Kennedy of Libertyville, a Democrat, and Mike Nerheim of Gurnee, a Republican.
The debate is cosponsored by the League of Women Voters chapters in Lake Forest and Lake Bluff, Highland Park and Highwood and Deerfield and the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Senior Center.
