Candidates face off

LAKE FOREST — Congressional, state and county board candidates will participate in three debates from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at Lake Forest High School, 1285 N. McKinley Road, Lake Forest.

In the first debate, U.S. Rep. Robert Dold, R-Kenilworth, will face Democratic challenger Brad Schneider in the redrawn 10th District.

The second debate will feature candidates for the Illinois General Assembly. Vying for retiring State Sen. Susan Garrett’s seat, D-Lake Forest, are Julie Morrison, a Democrat, and Arie Friedman, her Republican challenger. Scott Drury, a Democrat, will face Mark Shaw, a Republican, for the seat of retiring state Rep. Karen May, D-Highland Park, in the 58th district.

The final debate will include local candidates for four Lake County Board seats. Vying for District 11 are Steve Mandel, a Democrat, and Republican challenger Laura Lambrecht; for District 12, Mike Rummel, Republican; for District 13, David Barkhausen, Republican, and Sandy Hart, Democrat; and for District 21, incumbent Ann Maine, Republican, will face Arlene Hickory, Democrat.

There will be a five-minute intermission between the three debates. Seating is limited. Doors will open at 1 p.m.
