Lake Forest hosts stroke survivors’ conference

LAKE FOREST — A conference for stroke survivors takes place starting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Wood Prince Family Stroke Center at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital.
Conquering the Puzzle of Stroke Recovery is the seventh annual Stroke survivors Empowering Each Other converence.
The conference is open to stroke survivors and their families, as well as physicians, nurses and supporting clinical services personnel who treat stroke patients, hospital officials said in a news release.
Session topics include:
• 9:15-10 a.m. — Humor: Lighthheartedness during difficult times and learning to laugh again;
• 10-10:45 a.m. — Recognizing your inner strength: spirituality inner strength and new purpose;
• 11-11:45 a.m. — Being your own rehabilitation advocate: navigating the system
through stroke recovery, and;
• 11:45-12:30 p.m. — Eating smart; what our brains need: dietary strategies for life-changing health.
The conference is free, and the location is 660 Westmoreland Ave., Lake Forest.
