Libertyville native now Lake Forest director

Wood appointed director
Lake Forest – Dr. Gordon Wood has joined the staff of Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital as the director of Palliative Medicine and Supportive Care.
Wood will lead the hospital’s partnership with Midwest Palliative CareCenter, which integrates top-quality palliative care into the treatment of all patients who need it within the Northwestern Lake Forest system.
He comes from the University of Pittsburgh, where he served as assistant professor of medicine in the Section of Palliative Care and Medical Ethics and fellowship director for the university’s fellowship in palliative medicine.
Wood received his medical degree from the University of Chicago and completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. He completed a palliative medicine fellowship at Northwestern University, where he also received a master’s degree in the science of clinical investigation. Wood is an active researcher and educator with interests in communication and symptom management.
Wood’s new position at Northwestern Lake Forest brings him back to Lake County. He grew up in Libertyville and his family has come to Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital for their routine medical care since he was a child.
Wood recently became a first-time parent and lives with his wife and daughter in Lake Bluff.~.
