‘Girls’ Night Out’ shopping event Aug. 30
Lake Forest non-profit LEAD has partnered with clothing retailer Sara Campbell LTD to host a “Girls’ Night Out” shopping event from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30 in the store at 221 East Westminster in Lake Forest.
Ten percent of the proceeds from the evening’s sale of Sara Campbell’s clothing will benefit LEAD.
Said Terri Yamauchi, LEAD development director, “We believe in supporting local businesses, so we think this is a win-win.”

Gorton’s Dick earns honor
The Knights of Columbus honored Gorton Community Center Executive Director Brenda Dick with its Community Service Award this month.
The award came with a gift of $500 to the charity of Dick’s choice ... and she chose Gorton.
“The award belongs to our staff and volunteers who have done the work to bring Gorton to the community,” she noted. ~.
Lake Bluff’s ‘Art for the Parks’ set
LAKE BLUFF
Artists on the Bluff will host “Art for the Parks” from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 25-26 at the Lake Bluff Golf Club event tent at 355 W. Washington.
Items for sale will include paintings, drawings, water colors, jewelry and ceramics. Artists will donate 25 percent of their sales to the Lake Bluff Park District for maintenance and restoration of the beach, lakefront and park areas.
Refreshments will be available in the golf club. Ample parking is available. ~.
‘Taste of Serbia’ to be Sept. 1-2
LAKE FOREST
St. Basil of Ostrog Serbian Orthodox Church in Lake Forest/Mettawa will host its annual Taste of Serbia Festival, noon-11 p.m., Sept. 1 and 2 at 27450 N. Bradley Road, Lake Forest. Admission and parking are free.
Traditional culinary specialties, including roasted pork and lamb over an open BBQ pit, stuffed cabbage rolls, pitas, baklava and tortes, music and dancing will be featured.
