There will be safe deposit boxes, drive-up banking, mortgage services and Wintrust Wealth Management all on site.
LFC poised to host sleds event
First Midwest Bank will be the title sponsor of the second annual “The Sleds Are Coming” event on Feb. 12 at the Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse at Lake Forest College.
The Lake Forest College Athletics Department, in conjunction with the Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association (GLASA), will host the event, to take place from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public, but donations are encouraged in order to support GLASA.
Former Chicago Blackhawk and 1980 USA Gold Medalist Jack O’Callahan will make an appearance as a special guest and Larry Potash, morning anchorman at WGN, will serve as an honorary official and drop the puck at the event.
In addition to the game, there will be raffle prizes, including an iPad, and a puck toss competition.
Garrett, May opt out of scholarship program
State Sen. Susan Garrett, D-29th, of Lake Forest and State Rep. Karen May, D–58th, of Highland Park said Jan. 19 that they will not participate in the General Assembly tuition program that lets legislators waive state college tuition for a number of students in their districts.
The two join a growing number of Lake County lawmakers who have decided to turn down free tuition at state universities for student residents in their legislative districts.
The General Assembly Tuition Waiver program allows lawmakers to provide free tuition to a limited number of students in their district to attend any state university. The state budget does not provide a line item for the tuition waivers, possibly resulting in higher tuition for other students.
Jean Anderson is sales leader
