Run & Walk for Prostate Cancer Awareness was held on Sunday, Sept. 9 at Chicago Prostate Cancer Center in Westmont. The 3K walk and 5K run course went North down Pasquinelli Drive and round the business area.

There were over 300 participants and $21,000 was raised for prostate cancer awareness.

All first place male/female runners and walkers were given a medal for winning their age division.

NBC’s Dick Johnson was the emcee. Live music played while kids bounced in a moon jump and had their faces painted. Massage Envy gave free massages as well. Over 60 names were randomly drawn from a list of all registered walkers, runners and volunteers to give away various prizes and gift certificates.

The charity benefits the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Chicago, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving quality of care and quality of life by funding patient support programs, clinical research as well as professional and public education. The goal is to further promote public awareness, cancer prevention, detection and treatment options to all prostate cancer patients, their families and medical professionals involved in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer.
