The Women’s Health Advisory Council of Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital hosted its eight annual House Calls event at the Onwentsia Club in Lake Forest April 14.

House Calls is an evening of informative discussions on a variety of health care topics led by some of Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital’s most respected physicians.

“We are proud to report that this event drew a record number of guests, with more than 180 in attendance Saturday,” said Heather Kotlarz, co-president of WHAC. “Some of Northwestern’s finest physicians presented on health care topics and encouraged valuable discussions with attendees.

Dr. Mark A. Reinecke provided the welcome address. He addressed the recent tragedies in the community, and discussed understanding and treating depression and suicide among children and adolescents.

Following this presentation, five presentations were delivered in small groups by Dr. Ian Cohen and Dr. Vera Rigolin, Dr. Tanner Colegrove and Dr. Shayna Mancuso, Dr. Mark Eskandari, Dr. Mark Mass, and Dr Amy Paller and Dr. Simon Yoo.

House Calls is the signature event of WHAC, which was established in 2003 to promote the importance of preventive health to women and their families through educational events and activities. This event originated as a way to give the public access to the hospital’s physicians in an intimate setting that fosters informal discussion.

“House Calls was a special event. The information and dedication of the physicians presenting is further evidence of the world-class health care facility we have in our community,” said Kimberly Carris, event co-chairman. “Special attention was paid to the tragedies that have occurred in our community and how we can try to help avoid them in the future. Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital is truly an integral part of Lake Forest.”
