The Deerfield Family Theater is going all-out for its production of “The King and I.”

Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. Fridays, 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays, Nov. 9-18, at Caruso Middle School, 1800 Montgomery Road, Deerfield. Mark Woolums, Jewett Park Facility Program Manager for the Deerfield Park District, reported that they have assembled a cast of 43 kids and adults for Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical tale of a stern ruler who changes his ways with the help of his children’s English governess.

“It’s a very dynamic production,” Woolums said. “The cast is very, very talented, the costumes are fantastic and the presence of the king is something to enjoy. The king is dynamic and charismatic — a powerful figure onstage.”

A 16-piece live orchestra will accompany the cast as they sing such unforgettable songs as “Hello, Young Lovers,” “Getting to Know You” and “Shall We Dance?” “It’s a major production,” Woolums said.

Tickets are $18.
