For the prior two weeks, the Lake Forest Scouts competed in the Illinois State Series with the goal of winning a state championship. The process has been a bumpy one, with several ups and downs along the way.
The Lake Forest High School Junior Varsity poms team since early September has been selling “Peace Cord” bracelets made by women in Afghanistan. The dancers are earning funds to support their team this season, but, more importantly, the bracelets help support the young women who make them.
Unexpected rain washed the Highland Park Sectional girls tennis tournament from one outdoor site to three indoor venues and back outside again.

At the Class 3A boys golf state tournament Friday and Saturday, Lake Forest senior Sean Casey was unexpectedly called into service. And he was ready.

The Trevians advanced to the national championship, which is set for Nov. 8-9 in New Jersey. The story also features information about the Loyola, Lake Forest, Evanston and Hinsdale Central sailing teams.
It would appear the future for the sport of cross country at the high school level is a bright one in this corner of the state. Last weekend, the Illinois Elementary School Association (it’s the IHSA of grade schools) held its state cross country meet in downstate Normal and runners area middle schools had strong performances.
