VERNON HILLS — Technology retailer CDW Corp., which was taken private in 2007, announced a return to the public market with an IPO that could bring in more than $700 million.
Despite no experience in food chemistry, Michelle Francis and her husband have crafted their own sweetener after experimenting with more than 100 different blends. The Libertyville pair have launched a fundraiser to bring the sweetener to the Chicago-area market for shoppers with food allergies frustrated by limited options of tasty, affordable fare.
Laura Fellows thought she hit the sweet spot with the right combination of goodies and the perfect location. But she never dreamed her new shop, Jolly Good Fellows Sweet Boutique on Market Square in Lake Forest, would draw the crowds it has since it opened May 31. “We’re so busy, we have hundreds of people in here every day,” she said.
The following building permits were issued between Feb. 17 and Feb. 23 in Lake Forest.
Lake Forest native Justin Smith believes he’s found the lacrosse Mecca on the North Shore with the third location for The Lax Shop. “We’re totally in the center of the lacrosse hotbed in the northern suburbs,” Smith said of the store, located at 2575 Waukegan Road in Bannockburn.
An agreement approved by the Lake Forest City Council May 17 will ensure that older adults who reside in the five Senior Cottages — the only affordable housing built specifically for seniors in the city — will pay the same rent of roughly $800 per month. The measure will also help provide enough funding for the cottages’ future maintenance and upkeep.
Not every chef has the luxury of an open-air market across the street. But Dominic Zumpano of Market House on the Square and MH Fish House in Lake Forest relies on the fresh produce and imported Italian delicacies at Amidei Mercatino to inspire his signature dishes.
