A home security alarm seems to have cut short a midday Lake Forest residential home burglary, police said.
An alarm on a home in the 800 block of West Gage Lane was activated, alerting both Lake Forest Police and the homeowner at 12:20 p.m. Aug. 19. When police arrived at the house at 12:26 p.m., the resident also arrived to discover a broken sliding glass door in the rear of the house.
No one was discovered in the home and the resident is still doing an inventory to determine if anything is missing. Lake Forest Deputy Police Chief Karl Walldorf said the alarm, once activated, may have scared off the would-be burglar.
Anyone who saw someone in the vicinity or an unknown vehicle in the area at the time is asked to contact Detective Mark Senger at SengerM@cityoflakeforest.com.
