New PAWS foster applicants to receive Corgan Ravinia tickets

Billy Corgan is taking a break from recording two new Smashing Pumpkins albums, due in 2015, to perform for the first time at Ravinia Festival on Aug. 30 in his hometown of Highland Park. People who support his pet project, PAWS Chicago, by agreeing to foster a homeless pet, can win free pavilion tickets to Corgan’s acoustic performance. The concert will include Smashing Pumpkins songs.

Corgan, who adopted his own cats from PAWS Chicago (Pets Are Worth Saving), has been a major supporter of the nonprofit, which finds homes for nearly 6,000 pets every year. Corgan has raised thousands of dollars for PAWS by auctioning off unique experiences, like a private concert, to the highest bidder.

The offer of two free pavilion tickets to Corgan’s Aug. 30 concert at Ravinia is extended to any new foster volunteer whose application is submitted and approved by PAWS Chicago between now and Aug. 27. The PAWS Chicago Foster Care Program is critical in saving the lives of Chicagoland’s homeless pets. Fostering a pet typically requires only a few weeks of loving care in a home setting while the pet awaits adoption, is healed or needs a break from the busy shelter environment.

Applications can be filled out and submitted at pawschicago.org/foster, or by calling the PAWS Chicago foster team at 773-475-9464 for more information.

“Billy is a tremendous advocate for animals and we are thrilled to join him at Ravinia for his Hometown Hero performance,” said Paula Fasseas, PAWS Chicago founder and chairman. “He has become a voice for the voiceless, spreading awareness about the mass euthanasia of homeless cats and dogs while promoting lifesaving solutions of adoption, fostering, and spay/neuter practices that will ultimately build no-kill communities.”

The organization plans to open a satellite PAWS Chicago adoption center in Highland Park this fall.
