Police Blotter: 3 teens charged with underage drinking at Lake Forest fireworks

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff police departments. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

LAKE FOREST

DUI

Tyrone Springs, 46, 213 S. Park Ave., Waukegan, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage, driving while license revoked and operating an uninsured vehicle following a traffic stop on Route 41 at Deerpath at 2:59 a.m. on Thursday, July 10. He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 1. Harlin Barnes, 33, 2911 31st St., Zion, a passenger in the vehicle, was taken into custody when he was found to be wanted on a warrant for failing to appear in court on a previous arrest for driving while license revoked. Barnes was transported to Lake County Jail.

CANNABIS

Heidi Schmidt, 21, 1101 Fairview Ave., Lake Forest, was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop at 9:22 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, on Old Elm Road west of Route 41. An officer was directing traffic around a disabled railroad gate on Old Elm Road when he spoke with Schmidt through her car window and smelled cannabis, according to police. The officer found cannabis and a smoking pipe in Schmidt’s car. She is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 19.

MINOR ALCOHOL

Police responded to a home in the 300 block of Ahwahnee Road at 10:50 p.m. on Friday, July 4, for a report of a man with no shirt on in the caller’s backyard. Upon arrival, Ivan Ramirez, 20, 2109 Devonshire Road, Waukegan, ran from police and attempted to resist handcuffing when officers caught up to him. He was charged with disorderly conduct, consumption of alcohol by a minor and resisting arrest. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 22.

A 16-year-old male juvenile from Mundelein was charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor at 10 p.m. on Friday, July 4, at Deerpath Park at the Festival & Fireworks event. He is scheduled to appear at the city’s administrative hearing on Aug. 13.

A 17-year-old male from Lake Bluff and 15-year-old male from Lake Forest were charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 4, at Deerpath Park during the Festival & Fireworks event. They are scheduled to appear at the city’s administrative hearing on Aug. 13.

Darren Mihalic, 19, 31 Sandhurst Road, Mundelein; a 17-year-old male from Vernon Hills; and a 15-year-old male from Hanover Park were charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor when police responded to a report of an underage drinking party in the 500 block of Briar Lane at 9:35 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2. They are scheduled to appear at the city’s administrative hearing on Aug. 13.

LAKE BLUFF

BIKE THEFT

A black bicycle equipped with front and rear lights and a Burley hitch was reported stolen from the Lake Bluff Train Station where it was locked sometime between 7:15 a.m. and 7:20 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9. The owner, a Lake Bluff resident, estimates the loss at $450.
