LEGO Experience coming to Lake Forest

LAKE FOREST — The Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society is hosting “A LEGO Experience: The Farnsworth House” for children ages 8 to 14 at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Gorton Community Center, 400 E. Illinois Road, Lake Forest.
During the program, children will build a LEGO kit of the historic Farnsworth House and have the opportunity to bring their own LEGO house design for an architectural competition judged by architect Larry Booth of Booth Hansen architects of Chicago.
Architecture historian Tina Strauss will share the story of the Farnsworth House, designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in 1951 as a weekend retreat on the Fox River.
Tickets are $30 for Historical Society members and $35 for nonmembers. The ticket price includes a Farnsworth House LEGO kit valued at $60.
The children’s program is being held in conjunction with the upcoming “Local Legends” event honoring Lake Bluff resident John Bryan in a one-on-one conversation with Bill Kurtis about his life and Chicago career as a leading figure in the world of business and culture. “Local Legends” will take place at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Lake Forest High School, 1285 N. McKinley Road, Lake Forest. Tickets are $50.
