Lake Forest lifts burning ban

LAKE FOREST — The burning ban in effect in Lake Forest since July 18 has been lifted, officials announced Aug. 13.

As a result, application submissions for burn permits has resumed. Questions about the burning ban lift and burn permits may be directed to Fire Marshal Bob Serkowski at 847-810-3891

All bonfires, campfires and open burning activities had been suspended last month and residents were asked, when cooking outdoors, to use a proper grill located on a hard surface to prevent brush fires.

Lake Forest was among several Lake County communities that issued burn bans in July as a result of fast-moving brush fires during heavy drought conditions.
